Grandmaster Mountain Kim, a Korean Taekwondo and Judo champion, came to America in the early 1970’s in search of a better life.
He had two objectives. He wanted to own his own business and he wanted to help people. Since he was an expert martial artist – a martial arts school was the perfect fit.
In 1973, he opened the first Mountain Kim Martial Arts school in the basement of a tiny building in Falls Church, VA. That tiny school helped fuel the explosive growth of martial arts (particularly Taekwondo) around the D.C. Metropolitan area.
When the first Mountain Kim Martial Arts opened in 1973, Grandmaster Kim made a commitment to serving and empowering the community of D.C. Metropolitan Area by teaching children and adults the confidence, leadership, and fitness skills that can only be achieved through martial arts.
